Excavator mounted vibrator 5 to 55 t – Dawson EMV – sheet piles and piles

The Dawson EMV excavator mounted vibrators turn your excavator into a machine for driving and extracting sheet piles and piles. The range goes from the EMV70 for excavators from 5 tonnes to the EMV550 for machines up to 55 tonnes, with 70 to 550 kN of centrifugal force.

What is a Dawson excavator mounted vibrator?

An excavator mounted vibrator is a hydraulic vibrating unit that you fit to an excavator arm in place of the bucket. A powerful hydraulic jaw grips the sheet pile or pile, after which the vibrator makes it vibrate at high frequency. The vibration reduces the resistance of the surrounding soil, so you can push the section into the ground or pull it out.

The EMV range from British manufacturer Dawson has five models, from the light EMV70 to the heavy EMV550. They are built with minimal height, so you can handle the longest possible sections, and with a slim design to drive single sheet piles. A universal joint suspension makes alignment easy, and very little vibration is transmitted to the excavator.

Who is an excavator mounted vibrator for?

The Dawson vibrators are built for groundworks, foundation, road and marine contractors who install or extract sheet piles, tube piles and H-sections. Because you use your own excavator, no separate piling rig is needed. If you only install sheet piles occasionally, renting is an attractive option.

Technical specifications of the Dawson EMV range

The key data per model, according to Dawson’s technical datasheet:

  • EMV70: excavator 5 to 15 t, centrifugal force 70 kN, 3000 rpm, clamping force 30 t, weight 520 kg
  • EMV220: excavator 7 to 18 t, centrifugal force 220 kN, 3000 rpm, clamping force 26 t, weight 580 kg
  • EMV300: excavator 12 to 35 t, centrifugal force 300 kN, 2400 rpm, clamping force 36 t, weight 965 kg
  • EMV450: excavator 25 to 45 t, centrifugal force 450 kN, 2460 rpm, clamping force 54 t, weight 1,275 kg
  • EMV550: excavator 30 to 55 t, centrifugal force 550 kN, 2500 rpm, clamping force 66 t, weight 1,500 kg
  • Maximum section weight: 800 kg (EMV70 to EMV300), 1,000 kg (EMV450), 1,400 kg (EMV550)
  • Required hydraulic power: from 12 kW (EMV70) to 120 kW (EMV550), at 240 to 280 bar

What do these specifications mean?

Centrifugal force tells you how much force the vibrator transfers to the section: the higher it is, the heavier the sections and the denser the soil it can handle. Clamping force determines how firmly the section is held. The required flow and pressure must match your excavator’s hydraulics; we check this with you before recommending a model.

Benefits of an excavator mounted vibrator

With an excavator mounted vibrator you work flexibly with your own machine:

  • No piling rig needed: your excavator becomes a vibrating machine.
  • Drive and extract: the same vibrator installs and removes sections.
  • Long sections: thanks to the low build height.
  • Single sheet piles: the slim design also drives single piles.
  • Little vibration to the machine: more comfort for the operator and less wear.

How much does an excavator mounted vibrator cost?

We do not publish prices online. Every request is handled personally, because the configuration, options and delivery differ from project to project. This way you receive a quotation that truly fits your work, for purchase or for rental.

What determines the price?

The price of a Dawson vibrator depends on the model, and therefore on the size of your excavator, on the clamps and on the hydraulic connection. For rental, the duration of your project also plays a role. We are happy to advise which model suits your machine and your sections.
