What are SBH sheet piles?

Sheet piles or trench sheets are profiled steel plates that you press or vibrate into the ground side by side to shore a trench or excavation pit. SBH produces them in its own cold rolling mill in Heinsberg (Germany), on modern profiling machines and under continuous quality control. The steel strip is inspected by both the steel manufacturer and SBH itself before processing.

Cold rolling changes the crystalline structure of the steel. This increases the yield point in particular, by up to 50% compared with the base material. Buckling resistance is concentrated in the bending radii, where the risk of deformation and twisting in heavy soil is greatest. The result is a trench sheet that lasts. On request, SBH supplies the profiles with seals, as corner profiles or as custom profiles.

Who are SBH sheet piles for?

Sheet piles are made for groundworks, sewer and marine contractors who shore trenches and excavation pits, often in combination with a pile chamber. At Van Haut, you can buy or rent the KD 6/8; the LP and Omega profiles are for sale.

Technical specifications per profile

The key data per profile, according to SBH:

  • KD 6/8: covering width 600 mm, profile height 80 mm, thickness 8 mm, 50.0 kg/m², for sale and rent
  • LP 76/7: 700 mm wide, 150 mm high, 7 mm thick, 53.3 kg/m²
  • LP 88/8: 700 mm wide, 151 mm high, 8 mm thick, 61.6 kg/m²
  • Omega 7: 750 mm wide, 277 mm high, 7 mm thick, 68.0 kg/m²
  • Omega 8: 750 mm wide, 278 mm high, 8 mm thick, 76.8 kg/m²
  • Omega 9: 750 mm wide, 279 mm high, 9 mm thick, 86.3 kg/m²
  • Steel grade: S235JRC or S275JRC
  • Options: seals, corner profiles, custom profiles

What do these specifications mean?

Profile height and plate thickness determine how stiff a sheet pile is: the higher the profile, the greater the section modulus and the deeper or more heavily loaded you can work. The covering width tells you how much wall one sheet covers, and the weight per m² determines how heavy driving or pressing is.

Benefits of cold-rolled trench sheets

SBH sheet piles at a glance:

  • Stronger through cold rolling: yield point up to 50% higher.
  • Buckling-resistant: strong in the bending radii, even in heavy soil.
  • Controlled quality: own rolling mill in Heinsberg.
  • From light to heavy: KD 6/8, LP and Omega.
  • Buy or rent: KD 6/8 also for rent.

How much do sheet piles cost?

We do not publish prices online. Every request is handled personally, because the configuration, options and delivery differ from project to project. This way you receive a quotation that truly fits your work, for purchase or for rental.

What determines the price?

The price of SBH sheet piles depends on the profile type, length, steel grade, quantity and options such as seals or corner profiles. For rental, the duration of your project also plays a role.
