What is the SBH S300 Light Box?

The SBH S300 Light Box is a trench box that combines a light plate construction with flexible, hinged spindles. This makes it suitable for small to medium-sized trenches and light construction machinery, but also for unstable soil. Thanks to the hinged spindle, you can also install the box with the cut-and-lower method: pushing the plates down alternately while excavating.

Compared with the S100, the S300 has a sturdier side profile. That allows a greater clearance under the spindle, and with the spindles and extension pipes you use the box in wider trenches, up to 4.39 metres. With a top box on the base box, you go up to 4 metres deep.

Who is the S300 for?

SBH uses the S300 mainly for utility lines, house connections and cable works. It suits contractors who also have to work in less stable soil and want a box that stays light, but can go wider and deeper than lightweight shoring.

Technical specifications of the S300

The key data of the S300, according to SBH:

  • Maximum installation depth: 4.00 m
  • Trench width: 1.11 to 4.39 m
  • Clearance under the spindle (hc): 1.27 m
  • Spindles: hinged, extendable with up to 6 extension pipes of 0.50 m
  • Excavator, base box: 9 to 13 t
  • Excavator with top box: 18 to 30 t

What do these specifications mean?

The installation depth is the maximum trench depth the system protects safely. The working width is the clear space between the plates, the trench width the total width from outside to outside. The clearance under the strut or spindle (hc) determines how large the pipes are that you can slide underneath. The recommended excavator tells you which machine can install and pull the system.

Benefits of the S300 trench box

The S300 at a glance:

  • Also in unstable soil: installation with cut-and-lower.
  • Light but strong: robust side profile.
  • Wide range: trench width up to 4.39 m.
  • Deeper with top box: up to 4 m.
  • Quick width adjustment: extension pipes per 0.50 m.

How much does a trench box cost?

We do not publish prices online. Every request is handled personally, because the configuration, options and delivery differ from project to project. This way you receive a quotation that truly fits your work, for purchase or for rental.

What determines the price?

The price of a S300 depends on the plate length and height, the struts or spindles and extension pieces, any top elements and transport to the site. For rental, the duration of your project also plays a role. We put the system together based on your trench depth and width.
