What is the SBH S400 pile chamber?

The SBH S400 is pile chamber shoring: a system that combines shoring plates and trench sheets. It is the best choice where utility lines cross the trench, because where a box cannot go, you lower the trench sheets between the pipes. The pile chamber is at the same time the guiding frame for the trench sheets and the upper support.

The excavator simply presses the trench sheets into the ground before excavation starts. You set the working width with SBH spindles and extension pipes. As standard, the chamber is made for KD 6/8 trench sheets, but on request SBH also makes the plates for other trench sheets.

Who is the S400 for?

The S400 is made for sewer contractors and groundworks and road contractors working in cities or on industrial sites, where the ground is full of cables and pipes. There, a classic trench box is often not an option.

Technical specifications of the S400

The key data of the S400, according to SBH:

  • Recommended installation depth: up to 6.00 m
  • Trench width: 1.30 to 4.58 m
  • Working width between inner plates: 0.76 to 4.04 m
  • Working width between piles: 1.00 to 4.28 m
  • Pipe clearance height (hc): up to 2.00 m
  • Trench sheets: type KD 6/8, other types on request
  • Excavator: mobile excavator of 9 to 13 t

What do these specifications mean?

The installation depth is the maximum trench depth the system protects safely. The working width is the clear space between the plates, the trench width the total width from outside to outside. The clearance under the strut or spindle (hc) determines how large the pipes are that you can slide underneath. The recommended excavator tells you which machine can install and pull the system.

Benefits of the S400 pile chamber shoring

The S400 at a glance:

  • For crossing pipes: trench sheets go down between the pipes.
  • Guide and support in one: the chamber guides the sheets and supports at the top.
  • Press first, then dig: safe from the first scoop.
  • Adjustable width: with spindles and extension pipes.
  • Custom options: plates for other trench sheets on request.

How much does a pile chamber shoring cost?

We do not publish prices online. Every request is handled personally, because the configuration, options and delivery differ from project to project. This way you receive a quotation that truly fits your work, for purchase or for rental.

What determines the price?

The price of a S400 depends on the plate length and height, the struts or spindles and extension pieces, any top elements and transport to the site. For rental, the duration of your project also plays a role. We put the system together based on your trench depth and width.
